Finding Strength in the Struggle

Last night, I sat in bed, holding my feverish baby close to my chest. Her little body was warm, her breath raspy, and her fingers clutched mine as if she didn’t want me to move a single inch—and honestly, I didn’t either.

The living room was quiet except for the sound of cartoons still playing from earlier that evening. Dishes were stacked in the sink, my husband was exhausted, and dinner was a last-minute “whatever you can find” kind of situation. I hadn’t showered, my to-do list was untouched, and yet… I was exactly where I was needed most.

But can I be honest? I was stretched impossibly thin. There’s something about having a sick baby that slows life down and speeds it up all at once. The world seems to pause—yet everything still needs doing. Laundry piles up. Groceries run low. And if you’re a wife, too? The pressure of keeping up with connection, conversation, and care for your marriage can feel overwhelming.

And in those moments, the guilt creeps in.

  • Guilt for not being “enough.”

  • Guilt for snapping.

  • Guilt for microwave meals… again.

  • Guilt for not having the energy to meet your spouse with a smile at the end of the day.

Love is Enough

But can I tell you something I’m learning in the middle of this mess? Love is enough. The kind of love that holds a baby through the night. The kind of love that shows up with a quiet presence, not perfect plans. The kind of love that says, “I’m here,” even when the house is loud and your soul feels empty.

Because here’s the truth: You were never meant to do all this in your own strength. You don’t have to be Superwoman. You just have to be you—the mama God handcrafted for the little ones He placed in your care.

Baby Sleeping Peacefully
My precious baby girl. There’s nothing that makes my heart swell more than just sitting and watching her sleep peacefully.

God’s Power in Your Weakness

In 2nd Corinthians 12:9, God reminds us:

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”

There’s grace for the undone days. There’s grace for the unwashed hair. There’s grace for the wife who feels like she’s running on fumes and still trying to pour into everyone else. Grace doesn’t demand perfection. It just asks us to keep showing up.

Finding Light in the Chaos

Even in the exhaustion, God is there.

In the dark nursery at 3 AM.

In the quiet prayers whispered between coughs.

In the forehead kisses, the lullabies, and the stillness that sickness brings.

Sometimes these hard days make us slow down long enough to hear His voice again. And sometimes that’s the gift we didn’t know we needed.

To the Mama Reading This

If your arms are tired, your eyes heavy, and your heart full of worry—you’re not alone.

You are seen.

You are strong.

And you are doing holy work right in the middle of the mess.

So heat up that coffee for the fourth time. Cry if you need to. Ask for help. And remember: This too shall pass, but the love you’re pouring out right now will stay with your family forever. You are doing better than you think. One moment, one prayer, one day at a time.

Building a Supportive Community

As we navigate these challenging moments, it's essential to lean on one another. Sharing our experiences can lighten the load. Whether it's through a quick text to a friend or a heartfelt post on social media, connecting with others can provide comfort.

We can create a space where we uplift each other. We can share tips, offer encouragement, and remind one another that we are not alone in this journey.

The Importance of Self-Care

In the midst of caring for our little ones, we often forget about ourselves. Self-care is not selfish; it’s necessary. Taking a few moments for yourself can recharge your spirit.

Whether it’s a warm cup of tea, a quiet moment with a book, or a short walk outside, these small acts can make a big difference. Remember, a well-cared-for mama is better equipped to care for her family.

Embracing the Journey

Motherhood is a journey filled with ups and downs. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed. It’s okay to ask for help. Embrace the chaos, knowing that every moment is part of a beautiful story.

You are not just surviving; you are thriving in your unique way. Each day brings new challenges, but it also brings new joys. Celebrate the little victories, and don’t forget to cherish the moments that matter most.

With Love,

Destiny
